Megace 40mg/mL (Megestrol Acetate) is indicated for the palliative treatment of advanced carcinoma of the breast or endometrium (i.e., recurrent, inoperable, or metastatic disease). It should not be used in lieu of currently accepted procedures such as surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy.
Megace 40mg/mL (Megestrol Acetate) is used for Hormone-dependent cancers like breast cancers, Endometrial cancer, Weakness of the body in aids, Eating disorder, Weakening of body in abnormal tissues growth and other conditions.
Megace 40mg/mL (Megestrol Acetate) Side-effects
The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Megace 40mg/mL Suspension. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.
Changes in libido
Irregular menstrual cycles
Megace Suspension may also cause side-effects not listed here.
The recommended adult initial dosage of MEGACE
Oral Suspension is 800 mg/day (20 mL/day). Shake container well before using.
In clinical trials evaluating different dose schedules, daily doses of 400 and 800 mg/day were found to be clinically effective.
A plastic dosage cup with 10 mL and 20 mL markings is provided for convenience.
Megace 40mg/mL (Megestrol Acetate) Precautions
Before using Megace 40mg/mL (Megestrol Acetate), inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
Have liver or kidney disease, diabetes or adrenal gland disorder
